LOWER TRANMERE SOLDIER

Reported Killed

The sad news has been received by Mrs. Carruthers of 16, West View, Lower Tranmere, that her son Walter died at a Casualty Clearing Station in France on March 21, the day of the opening of the great battle. The deceased joined voluntarily at the commencement of the war in Sept., 1914 and after six months training was drafted out to France, where he has since served in the R.F.A. and has taken part in most of the heavy fighting. Previous to joining he was employed by the British Leather Co from the time of leaving school. He was only 19 years of age when he joined the Army.
