Birkenhead News  10 November 1917

DEATH AFTER LONG SERVICE.

News is to hand that Private William Bromley, who made his home with his brother Harry, at 55, Grasville Road, Higher Tranmere, has been killed in action. He was 31 years of age, and enlisted in the Cheshire Regiment, in September, 1914, took part in the Serbian retreat, and afterwards served in Salonica.

He was invalided home for about 12 months, returning to France in March of this year. Two brothers of the late Pte. Bromley are serving, one in Egypt, and one in Ireland.

The deceased’s brother Harry enlisted in December, 1914, but was discharged five months later suffering from gastritis.
