Birkenhead News 14th July 1917

OFFICIALLY REPORTED KILLED

Mrs. Bailey, of 9, Market Place South, has received official intimation that her son, Pte. Frank Bailey, was killed in action on June 16th 1917. He joined the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in December 1916, and had only been in France for six weeks. It is supposed that his death took place at the bursting of a shell. Pte. Bailey was employed as a butcher with Mrs. Milton of Market Hall, Birkenhead prior to joining the Army. Two other brothers are serving with the colours, one with the Canadian forces, and another with the Royal Flying Corps. Much sympathy is extended to Mrs. Bailey and family in their sad bereavement.
