DIED FROM WOUNDS.
Mrs. Day, of 25, Edgar Street, has received official intimation from the War Office, that her son, Pte. John Day, of the 1st Royal Munster Fusiliers, has died from wounds in a casualty clearing station in France. He was wounded on the 3rd June and died on the 13th. The chaplain of his regiment expressed his sympathy to Mrs. Day in the following letter :- “It is with great sympathy that I write to tell you of the death of your son Pte. H. Day. He really improved for some time, but the day before yesterday he began to go back, and grew rapidly worse until he passed away this morning quite quietly and peacefully. I was able to be with him and say my prayers for him at the end. I send you my sympathy and hope that the thought of the glorious nature of his death will be of some comfort to you in your great sorrow. He is buried in our cemetery and a cross will mark his grave.
