BIRKENHEAD PARENTS DOUBLY BEREAVED.

One Son Killed in March,

ANOTHER DROWNED IN MAY.

Mr. J. J. Harris, of 390, Park Road North, has received official intimation that his son, Pte. Charles Harris, was drowned at sea on May 4th, when the Transylvania was torpedoed. Pte. C. Harris joined the Cheshire Regt. last January, and was trained at Oswestry. Prior to joining the Army he was in the dairy business, and was very well known in the North End. He leaves a wife and two children. We sympathise with the relatives of Pte. Harris left to mourn his loss. No further information regarding his death is available.

Charles’ brother Herbert Henry Harris, 48892, King’s Liverpool Regiment died of wounds on the 28th March 1917.
