Birkenhead Sailors.
LOST WITH CLAN MCNAUGHTON.
Mr. Joseph Williams, of 68, St. Anne Street, Birkenhead, is another of Britain’s heroes who has given his life in the cause of right. Deceased, who was a single young man, was formerly a greaser in the employ of the Blue Funnel Line, and only joined the ill-fated Clan McNaughton five weeks ago. It was his first trip as a member of the Navy. Mr. Williams was formerly a soldier in the 2nd Cheshire Regiment, and fought all through the Boer campaign, for which he held Queen Victoria’s and King Edward’s South African medals. He was well known in Birkenhead, and is mourned by a large circle of friends.
