Birkenhead News 26 August 1916Higher Elementary Boy Killed.
Out Only Five Weeks.
Private James Mannion, son of Mr. Mannion, of 13, Camden Street, Birkenhead, has been officially reported as killed in action on August 6th. He was attached to a Liverpool Regiment, and was only drafted to the front five weeks ago. Before joining the colours he was in the Admiralty service. The young man was only 19 years of age, and received his education at the Higher Elementary School, Conway Street.
