Ernest's Story.
Birkenhead News 30 September 1916Three Moreton Heroes.
All Wounded, One Fatally.
News has been received of the death from wounds of Private Ernest Hardcastle, aged 22, Cheshire Regiment. He was a native of Moreton, and joined with his two brothers, Oswald and Thomas, at the outbreak of the war. The two latter are now in hospital suffering from wounds.
Previous to joining Private Ernest Hardcastle resided with his grandmother, Mrs. T. Richards, Main Road, Moreton, and was employed by Mr. Thomas, baker, at Moreton.
