T. B.'s Story.

The name of Private T B Ford appears on the plaque commemorating soldiers from Northwich who died in the Boer War. Apart from the name of his regiment, 1st Btn North Lancashire Regiment, very little is known of Private Ford.

Here are some names who he is not:
  • Private Benjamin Ford 6470 of the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, who was from Preston (1882 - 1948)
  • Benjamin Thomas Ford born in July 1883 at Over, Tabley, who joined the Lancashire Fuseliers in WW1, and died in 1973.
  • Private T Ford, 4496 of the 2nd Battalion the (Prince of Wales's) North Staffordshire Regiment died of pneumonia on 3rd September 1901, aged 37. He appears to have no links to Northwich.
  • Lance Sergeant Ford, Royal Lancaster Regiment 2nd Battalion 5397, killed on 11th September 1900.
