Sydney's Story.
Sydney Badger was son of Arthur and Elizabeth Badger. He was born on 6th Jan 1899 and had 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Between 1901and 1911, the family were living at 37 Middlewich Street, Crewe. He returned from the war to live again with his parents and siblings at 5 Brown Street, Crewe, where he was recorded on the absent voter’s list in 1918. By 1921, Sydney was a baker at Miss Plumb Baker and Confectioners, Mill St, Crewe. Sydney played football with Nantwich F.C. and Oswestry Town in the Birmingham League in the 1920s. He married Esther Jane Tilley in 1926. They had one daughter. In 1939 they were living at 12 Ruskin Road, Crewe where they continued to live for the rest of their lives. Sydney died on 14th Dec 1970 in Crewe. Sydney’s funeral is recorded in the Crewe Chronicle on Jan 7th 1971. Esther died in 1984.Researched by Edward Mclean
