Birkenhead News 24 April 1918DIED FROM WOUNDS.
Lance-Corporal T. P. Lawton joined the 14th Cheshires on February 29th, 1916, and was sent to Prees Heath, where he became a musketry instructor. After special training at various centres he became physical instructor to the 3rd East Lancs. at Great Yarmouth. When the last great attack on March 21st took place he was moved off and detailed for France, and left England on March 30th. He was wounded severely on April 13th, and died on the following day. His home was at 6, Chatham Road, Rock Ferry. The late Lance-Corpl. Lawton had two brothers serving in France. William Lawton joined in Sept., 1914, in the Wirral Batt., and went to the front in Sept., 1915. He has seen much service and was still well when last heard of. Percy Lawton, a younger brother has been in France since August, 1916. He has also seen much service. He is in the 8th Royal Berks. Unfortunately nothing has been heard of him for over a month. Any information would be welcome.
