George Maxwell's Story.
Son of George Pottie of Crewe and husband of Hannah Pottie of 76, Victoria Street, Crewe. He was a former millwright in Crewe Works. The Ramsey was sunk by the German minelayer Meteor, while apparently flying Russian colours. A total of five officers and 50 crew were lost from a ship’s complement of 98.
