Sydney's Story.

Sydney was born in 1898 son of Thomas & Ann Apleton of 72 Cross Brow, Statham, his father was the Post Master at Stathm Post Office.

Prior to enlisting he was employed as a postman and attended the Lymm Primitive Methodist Church on Eagle Brow.  

His parents were informed of his death by a letter from Sargeant Harold Clare of the Cheshire Regiment and it came as a great shock to them as he was their second son that they had lost in the war. His brother George Appleton having been killed by a German sniper on 24th August 1915 aged 21.
