Joseph Watkin's Story.

Only son of Joseph Watkin and Jane Green of “Verdun,” East Caulfield, Victoria, Australia. According to the 1911 Census, was living at 78, Samuel Street, Crewe and was employed as a book stall clerk. Enlisted September 16, 1914 and embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Hororata on October 19, 1914 for the Front. Killed just after landing at Anzac Cove, when a shell burst at his feet when advancing up a hill.
