Harold David 's Story.
Birkenhead News 21 October 1916A telegram has been received by Mrs. Plant, baker, of 66 Walker Street, Hoylake, that her assistant, Private Harold Jones, has been shot through the head by a sniper and was killed. He was a bright young fellow of 28, and had been for 14 1/2 years with Mrs. Plant. He was a teacher in the Church of England Sunday School, a sideman at Hoylake Parish Church, and one of the first members of the Hoylake branch C.E.M.S. Before enlisting he was a member of the V.A.D.
