Bebington Officer Killed.

Recent casualties to local officers include the death of Captain Richard Le Brun Nicholson, M.C., Cheshire Regt., the only son of Mr. W. R. Nicholson, of Nelson’s Croft, Bebington, Captain Nicholson was educated at The Lees, Hoylake, and Loretto. On the outbreak of war he enlisted in the Public Schools Battalion of the Middlesex Regiment, and later received a commission in the Cheshire Regiment. In July, 1915, he was promoted, went to the front with his battalion, and was wounded at Thiepval in July, 1916. He was awarded the Military Cross for his good work in an attack in June 1917, and a bar to his M.C. when his company held a sunken road, though heavily outnumbered, and were skilfully withdrawn on the order to retire being received.
