HOYLAKE CORPORAL KILLED.

Mr. Edgar Billson’s Chauffeur.

The sad news has just been received by his wife and family of the reported fall in action of Corpl. Robt. Scott, of 19, Procter Road, Hoylake, who is supposed to have been killed on the 4th inst. Scott, who was an old Army man, had seen considerable service, both in India and South Africa. On leaving the Army some years ago he became a chauffeur and was for about seven years in the service in that capacity of Lady Billson. About eighteen months ago he entered the service again as a chauffeur of Mr. Edgar Billson, Lady Billson’s son, who lives at “Dormy,” Stanley Road, Hoylake, in whose employ he also has a son. In this case he had been in the employ of the same family for upwards of eight years.

Last September he was called up as a Reservist, and joined his old regiment, the Northumberland Fusiliers. He was very well-known, not only in the Deeside district, but also throughout Wirral through which he was continually driving Lady Billson, and afterwards Mr. Edgar Billson’s car. He was also very popular amongst his fellow chauffeurs in Hoylake, every one of whom, in addition to his numerous associates, will be exceedingly sorry should the news prove true.
