Loyal Hoylake Family Bereaved

Official information was received on Thursday by Mr. And Mrs. James Holmes, 28, Leek Road*, Hoylake, that their eldest son, Thomas, had been killed in action. Deceased, who was a single man of 33 years, had been in employment of the District Council for some years, afterwards going to work on an uncle’s farm in South Lancashire. On the outbreak of war, he speedily enlisted in the South Lancashire Regiment, and passed through a lot of service. He had four brothers, all of whom are serving their King and country, a proud record for any family. Much local sympathy is expressed to Mr. and Mrs. Holmes in their sorrow.

* the correct address is Lee Road, Hoylake.
