Leonard's Story.

Leonard Clarke was born in Toddington, Leicestershire, one of seven children born to Thomas (a domestic coachman) and Isabella Clarke. The family came to live at Heathside, Albert Street, Knutsford.

Although Leonard's service record no longer exists, we know he joined the army sometime in 1916 and became a second Lieutenant in the 4th Battalion of the Kings Shropshire Light Infantry, later to be attached to the 7th Battalion.

Leonard died of wounds on the 4th October 1917.
