Frederick's Story.

Corporal F. Platt.

Corporal F. Platt, son of Mr. Platt, of Hulme Street, Crewe, has been killed in action. The following letter was received from his captain.

“I very much regret to inform you that your son, Corporal F Platt, was killed in action today (6-10-16). He was a very gallant lad, a brave soldier, and a true gentleman. I have had him under my command for many months, and, after sharing the same dugout with him in the trenches I cannot tell you how much I feel his loss. On account of his cheerfulness, he was one of the most popular and N.C.O.’s in the brigade, and with all other comrades. I join in offering you our deepest sympathy in your loss you have sustained, and which is equally our loss.”

Corporal Platt was a reservist in Plymouth three years before the war broke out. He went to the front about 15 months ago. He was 25 years of age and before enlistment worked in Crewe works.
