Frederick's Story.
Birkenhead News 06 October 1917HESWALL SOLDIER KILLED.
Mrs. Moseley, of “Avondale”, Pensby Road, Heswall, has received word that her son, Bombardier F. Moseley, of the 39th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, has been killed in action in France. Second-Lieut. S. Baker has written to Mrs. Moseley a letter in which he states that he “was killed along with three other men while returning to the battery. He was one of the most reliable men in my section, and his loss is keenly felt amongst his fellow men.” Bombardier Moseley was 30 years of age, and before joining the Army was employed by Mr. Fernie, of Thornton Hough. Much sympathy is expressed to his widowed mother in her loss.
The above newspaper report is reproduced exactly as published. Whilst this report records Frederick’s last name as Moseley it is in fact Mousley as confirmed by official records.
