Birkenhead News 20 November 19151st Cheshire Man Killed.

News has been received of the death, from wounds sustained while in action in France, of Pte. John Cliffe, of the 1st Cheshires, whose home was at 19, Parkfield Avenue, Birkenhead. He was severely wounded on November 9th, and was taken to hospital, but he survived only about two hours. Pte. Cliffe, who was 26 years of age, and married, had been at the front for eight months. He enlisted at the beginning of the war, having up to that time been engaged as a labourer at Birkenhead Docks.
