News Report

Reported Missing

Mrs. E. Jones, of 52 Byerley Street, Seacombe, has received a letter from the bandmaster of the 13th Cheshires, saying that her son, Lance Corporal E. Jones, is reported missing.

The bandmaster writes:- “Our regiment made a charge a few days back and we did gloriously, but I am sorry to say that there are a great lot missing and your dear son is amongst them. He was a good, true and brave lad.”

Lance Corporal Jones, who joined the 13th Cheshires on their formation, by trade is a bricksetter, and is an old boy of St. Paul’s School, Seacombe

Reported Killed

Another bombing friend of the party, Lance-Corporal Edward Jones, of 52, Byerley Street, Seacombe, who was missing in the July attack, is now officially reported killed. Lance-Corporal Jones, was an old St. Paul’s School boy, and was a member of the Seacombe Presbyterian Young Men’s Class. In a letter which Mrs. Jones received the writer paid a splendid tribute to the boy, saying “he was a good, true, and brave lad.”
