Alfred's Story.

Alfred was born in Dunham Massey  in 1877, fourth son of William & Mary Ann Jackson, the family later moved to Broomedge, Lymm.

Prior to enlisting he was employed as a gardener in Lymm, he was also well known in Dunham Massey having served his apprentice with Mr R Joyson and later acted as under-gardener to Mr W Joyson.

He was an ardent churchman and was the Superintendent at the Broomedge Mission.  He was the organ blower for 4 years at St Mark's Church, Dunham and then for 8 years acted as apparitor during which time he made a large number of friends.

Alfred married Elizabeth Leigh in 1908 at Penketh Wesleyan Chapel and they started their married life living in Broomedge.  They had no children.


He died in hospital in Egypt from meningitis on 6th December 1917 aged 40 years.
