Edward's Story.

EARLY LIFE

Edward Fox was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire in 1884, the son of Harriet and Samuel Fox, a confectioner.

By 1891 the family had moved to Macclesfield and six-year-old Edward was living at 105 Hurdsfield Road with his parents and siblings Fredrick (16), Rose (14) and William (12).  The family moved again during the next ten years and in 1901 they were living at 62 Waters Green, between the Nags Head Hotel and the Old Millstone Inn. They were still at that address in 1911 and Edward was working as a baker and confectioner, most likely for his father who was a refreshment room proprietor.

WW1 SERVICE

Edward enlisted in Macclesfield and was drafted to France in 1916. He was reported missing on 12 October 1916 and it was assumed that he was killed in action on or after that date. His body was later found and reinterred in Warlencourt British Cemetery, France.
