Albert's Story.

Born Crewe, enlisted Chester. Parents resided in Westminster Street and he was formerly a fireman in the Crewe North Steam Sheds and a member of the old Crewe Railway Volunteers. During his time in the Sheds, he had trained several troupes for the Cottage Hospital Fete. Wounded in the chest, he died in the 23rd Casualty Clearing Station. On the day of his death the 12th (Eastern) Division, to which the 70th Field Company were attached, had been in action in a sector known as the Hohenzollern Craters.
